Koblenz makes vacuum cleaners that have a dirt cup, so you never need to buy vacuum cleaner bags for them. Prices for the various models are in the $150 to $400 range, which is reasonable for a vacuum that is made to withstand years of hard use.

One of these models is the U-310DC Bagless Commercial Upright. It has a 50-foot long cord that has a hook on the back of the vacuum for storage. It cleans a 12 inch wide path, and is a bare bones, tough vacuum cleaner. It doesn't feature a lot of bells and whistles, such as a headlight or height adjustments.

One positive thing about the Koblenz U-310DC is that it only weighs about 13 pounds, which is a lot less than some other full-sized upright vacuum cleaners. It also features a one year commercial warranty. For about $30 more, you can add a magnet to the front which will pick up metal objects that could damage the beater bar.

The Koblenz U-110 DC is a lower cost model of the 310. It has only a 35-foot cord. One quality feature of these vacuums is a hardwood brush roll that will not warp. The fan is made of tough Lexan. Both have all metal construction and a bumper guard that keeps you from damaging furniture you may run into.

Another model is the Koblenz Endurance Model U-510DCN upright vacuum cleaner. This is an easy to maintain commercial model that has a dirt cup for bagless operation. It has a 50-foot, three-wire cord. The motor is rated for 3000 hours of use. The aluminum chassis is made of aircraft grade metal and has a 5-year warranty. The warranty on the fan, yoke, and on/off switch is for two years.

The belts, brushroll, and fan can all be accessed without tools, and changing brushes only requires a single socket wrench. As for cleaning, the vacuum is designed to get the dirt on both sides of the roller brush when you clean along baseboards. It features variable height adjustments, too. The on/off switch is operated by the way you position the handle, so there is no stooping necessary.

A similar model is the Endurance U-610. It cleans a 16-inch path to save you time. Instead of a dirt cup, it features a shake-out bag, so you don't have to buy bags. It has the same easy-to-maintain features as the above model. Plus, the rear wheels are large and tough for easy movement.

If you are looking for on-board tools and lots of cleaning features, the Koblenz might not be the best choice for you. On the other hand, if you would like the reliability and tough quality of a basic, commercial bagless vacuum, this might be just what you want. In a regular household setting, it will be a while before you use up 3000 hours of vacuuming!
